I understand that exceptional circumstances can arise, and these will always be considered on an individual basis.
Do I need to prepare for my first session?
No. There is no expectation to prepare or know exactly what you want to say. Your first session is simply an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another, explore what feels important to you, and discuss what you hope to gain from counselling.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term counselling. Together, we will regularly review your progress and decide what feels most helpful for you.
Is everything I say confidential?
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling. What you share will be treated with care and respect. There are a small number of exceptions, such as serious concerns about your safety or the safety of someone else, safeguarding concerns, or where disclosure is required by law. Wherever possible, I will discuss this with you first.
Can I contact you between sessions?
You are welcome to contact me about practical matters, such as arranging or changing appointments. From time to time I may also email you resources, suggested reading or practical exercises. Please note that I am unable to provide therapeutic support by email or text message.
What if I have technical difficulties during a session?
If we lose connection during an online session, we will attempt to reconnect. If this is not possible, we will discuss the most appropriate way to proceed, which may include arranging another appointment.
How do I get started?
The first step is simply to get in touch. We can arrange a free initial telephone or video call where you can ask any questions, find out more about how I work, and explore whether working together feels like the right fit for you.
